First Presbyterian Church of Salinas
Location: Salinas
Architect: David Austin Smith
Status: Completed

The growing congregation of this church required a larger, state of the art facility, delivered as economically as possible. Bogard Construction met the value engineering challenge by providing structural systems cost analysis up front, as well as by including design-build mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler scopes in the contract. One major design criteria was for an open Sanctuary, without columns interrupting line of site to the stage. This was accomplished by utilizing open web steel trusses spanning the 113 foot wide space. The combined Sanctuary and Balcony areas seat approximately 1,400 people.

The Bogard team has been leaders in suggesting methods to overcome the hurdles of design preparation and cooperative in working in a committee environment in a church like ours. Any task we asked them to perform has been done very timely, accurately and with understanding of what we were trying to accomplish.
